Fall 2017 Updates to Fees and Facility Hours of Operation

Facility hours will be as follows:

Sportspark: Weekdays - 7am to 9pm

                     Weekends - 7am to 8pm

Cultural Center: Daily 9am to 9pm

Tennis Information

The Octagon Tennis courts are open daily from 6am to 10:30pm. No permits will be needed to use the courts. Courts are first come, first serve, and you must sign in when you start playing. Random spot checks will be made to ensure compliance with this rule.

Courts 1, 2, and 3 are reserved for camps and special programs during the following times:

May 15 through June 23 from 3pm to 6pm- Monday to Friday

June 12 through August 25 from 9:30am to 11:30am- Monday to Friday

July 5-August 25 from 1pm to 4pm- Monday to Friday

The Roosevelt Island Tennis Association reserves 4 courts on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm, and 3 courts on Sundays from 10am to noon. Every weeknight, Court 4 is used for community lessons from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

INSTRUCTORS: Courts may only be used for instruction when the above programs are not taking place. Failure to comply will result in permanent removal from the courts.

If you purchased a new permit or paid for a renewal in April or May 2017 and have not yet received a refund, please contact permits@rioc.ny.gov for refund information.

Permit Information, Guidelines and Applications


The first step in receiving a permit from RIOC is filling out a permit application. Please complete the corresponding form below. If you are unsure about certain blanks or don't currently have liability insurance, please just leave those areas blank. Completed forms can be submitted one of the following ways:

Once your application is received, PLEASE ALLOW 10 BUSINESS DAYS (unless you are submitting during the bulk outdoor application period in January or July) to process the request.  Within those 10 days, if your application is approved, you will receive an invoice for payment.

ALL PERMITS ISSUED REQUIRE A CERTIFICATE OF LIABILITY.  The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation must be listed as the certificate holder, and the following entities MUST be listed as secondary insured:

  • New York City

  • New York State

  • Empire State Development Corporation

  • Division of Housing and Community Renewal
