Mulchfest
Wrap up your holiday season and say goodbye to your tree at Mulchfest. Join NYC Parks and the New York City Department of Sanitation in the NYC holiday tradition of recycling your Christmas tree! Put on your boots and haul your tree to a Mulchfest location where they will chip your tree into wood chips that will be used to nourish trees and make NYC even greener. More than 28,000 trees were recycled last year. Help us top this number! Drop off your tree at any Mulchfest location between December 26 and January 11 or join us at Chipping Saturdays on Saturday, January 4 and Saturday, January 11!
Chipping Saturdays
Saturday, Jan. 4 and Saturday, Jan. 11
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Bring your tree to a chipping site on Chipping Saturdays to take home a tree-mento! They'll chip your tree and give you your very own bag of mulch to use in your backyard or to make a winter bed for a street tree. To participate, just look for a chipping site on the map or list below.
Know Before You Go: Please remember to remove all lights, ornaments, and netting before bringing the tree to a Mulchfest site. Bags will be provided if you wish to take some free mulch home. Mulch is available at the sites marked with an asterisk (*) on the map in this link: https://www.nycgovparks.org/highlights/festivals/mulchfest
