On September 19th, the Public Safety Department (PSD) held its first-ever Meet and Greet event to introduce the public to the new permitting team of Stephanie Patino and Lieutenant Wanda Coleman. All of Roosevelt Island’s permitting needs are now handled by PSD. The event was held at the Cultural Center and gave Roosevelt Islanders a chance to learn about the new permitting process.
“This kind of outreach is an important way for us to have an open dialogue with the community about how permits will be handled going forward,” said Acting PSD Chief Kevin Brown. “Roosevelt Island is fortunate in that it has several active organizations that need many different types of permits. We all need to work together to make sure these groups not only get what they need, but that their requests are handled as quickly as possible.”
Here is a list of the kinds of permits PSD issues:
- Construction and work permits
- Outdoor Athletic Fields
- Indoor Athletic Spaces (basketball courts, multipurpose rooms, swimming pool)
- Indoor Community Spaces (dance studios, communal spaces)
- Special Event permits
- Film Shoots
- Mobile Food Vending
