Mr. Ellis joined RIOC as Deputy General Counsel in June 2022. Prior to that, he was counsel to the New York State Housing Finance Agency (HFA) for over five years, where he worked on tax-exempt bond transactions and affordable housing developments throughout the State. Prior to HFA, Mr. Ellis worked for Related Management Company, assisting with compliance on the company’s affordable housing portfolio.
Outside of his work at RIOC, Mr. Ellis is an Adjunct Professor at Fordham Law School where he teaches a class on affordable housing. Mr. Ellis is also a Member of the New York City Bar Association’s Housing and Urban Development Committee, and he serves on the board of Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City, a local affordable housing non-profit and community development financial institution.
Originally from Los Angeles, Mr. Ellis received a B.A. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his Juris Doctor from Fordham Law School in 2010.
