Roosevelt Island's most popular sport, soccer, will begin the 2018 season with league play beginning Friday, October 5th. The program, which was traditionally played on Octagon Soccer Field, has been relocated to Firefighter’s and Capobianco fields this season.
This year’s season will begin with tryouts on Saturday, September 29th and conclude November 17th with championship games. The league will feature between four teams each in the following age divisions:
Kinderkickers (5 - 6 year-olds)
Minors (7 - 8 year-olds)
Sophomores (9 -10 year-olds)
Juniors (11-13 year-olds)
Seniors (14 -18 year-olds)
Practices will be held weeknights, Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. and games will be Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The free program is open to all resident youth of Roosevelt Island.
