Roosevelt Island Fourth of July Family Fireworks Celebration

Non-Ticketed Admission to the Cornell Tech Campus starting at 12 PM. Limited Ticket Event at FDR Four Freedoms State Park, opening at 6 PM 

WHAT TO EXPECT ON MONDAY, JULY 4, 2022

New York's iconic fireworks display returns to the East River this year! The show beginJuly 4th map 2021 Opens in new windows at approximately 9:25 PM. More details about the show are available at  Macys.com.

The Cornell Tech campus will be open and available to the public as a viewing location/ No ticket is needed for access. 

FDR Four Freedoms State Park will host a limited-ticket Fourth of July Family Fireworks Celebration from 6 PM-10:30 PM. Registration will be announced in the upcoming weeks. 

1,500 tickets are available for Four Freedoms Park and registration is required. You can register for up to FOUR free tickets PER HOUSEHOLD using your name, address, and email address. Only attendees with tickets will be allowed to enter Four Freedoms Park; no tickets will be available at the door. 

All attendees who have NOT been vaccinated against COVID-19 are reminded to kindly where a mask throughout the event.

Upon any potential safety concerns or overcrowding, we reserve the right to limit access to Roosevelt Island and the fireworks viewing locations. 

REGISTRATION FOR TICKETS TO FDR FOUR FREEDOMS PARK, WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY.

CORNELL TECH LAWN VIEWING

  • Access will be permitted for Fireworks viewing on the Cornell Tech lawn starting at 12 PM. 
  • Entrance is first-come, first-serve. No re-entry.
  • All visitors will be subject to airport-style security.
  • No entry is permitted after 9 PM. Latecomers will not be admitted.

FOOD

Food and beverages other than water will not be allowed inside FDR Four Freedoms State Park. Attendees will be able to purchase food and beverages from vendors along the West Loop Road of the Cornell Tech campus.

RESTROOMS & COOLING STATIONS

Portable toilets and the Southpoint Park Comfort Station restrooms will be available throughout the viewing locations. Cooling Stations (5) will also be located throughout. Click the above event map for locations.

DIRECTIONS

Visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transportation. No parking will be available on Roosevelt Island on July 4th. 

Cornell Tech, Southpoint Park, and FDR Four Freedoms State Park are located on the southern end of Roosevelt Island in New York City’s East River. For all viewing locations, follow signs south from transportation to Cornell Tech, Southpoint, and Four Freedoms Park. 

Subway: Take F Train to the Roosevelt Island stop. For more info go to MTA.info. For electronic updates on F Train service, sign up for MTA Alerts at mymtaalerts.com

Tram: Take the Tram at 59th St & 2nd Ave. Exit at the Tram station on Roosevelt Island. If you take the Tram to Roosevelt Island from 59th & 2nd, you can use your MTA subway card. MTA subway cards are available for purchase at the Tram station. Both Trams operating at full capacity and adhering to CDC public transportation guidelines that include the wearing of masks. 

Ferry: Take the Astoria line to Roosevelt Island. Please note that ferry service across all routes will end early on Monday, July 4th due to the Macy's Fireworks Show. The last Wall Street/Pier 11 departure bound for E 90th Street will be at 4:19 PM. The last E 90th Street departure bound for Wall Street/Pier 11 will be at 4:38 PM. For more info go to Ferry.nyc

Red Bus: The Red Bus will run on the weekday schedule. There will be no Octagon Express bus. 

Q102 Bus - The Q102 will not serve any stops on Roosevelt Island during preparation and viewing for the Macys 4th of July Fireworks. Buses will operate in both directions between 27th Ave at 2nd St. and Vernon Blvd. at 36th Ave., the last stop.

Expect a 15-minute walk from all modes of transportation to check-in at Southpoint Park & Four Freedoms State Park.
