Special Events
The Community Affairs department produces several special events throughout the year for the Roosevelt Island community. Several of these annual events include partnerships and sponsors from island organizations and businesses. All events are free to the public.

Motorgate Gallery Opening
Unveiling of the new Fall for Arts Festival murals being added to Roosevelt Island’s Motorgate Garage Atrium. Includes, a reception in the Atrium with live music, refreshments, and a tour of this unique art.

#EarthLove Roosevelt Island
Roosevelt Island Celebrates #EarthLove Day, where the community comes together to celebrate the Earth! Festivities include a multitude of fun, educational activities to raise awareness on ways we can help Roosevelt Island and our planet stay green and clean!

Celebration of Roosevelt Island, which includes island beautification projects, carnival games and rides, food, live entertainment, information booths, giveaways, and more!

Roosevelt Island Outdoor Summer Movie Series
A series of films to be shown on a 40 foot screen at Southpoint Park; includes trivia contests, food vendors, and music!

July 4th Family Fireworks Celebration
Viewing of the famed Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on the East River. Viewing available on the Cornell Tech campus and limited ticketed event viewing at FDR Four Freedoms State Park. Registration is required for access to Four Freedoms Park.

Fall for Arts Festival
A much-loved tradition featuring live mural painting, hands-on arts and crafts workshops for children and adults, and live entertainment.

Halloween Extravaganza
Costume party extravaganza including: carnival games, rides, giveaways, food, contests, music, and more!

Tree Lighting Ceremony
The Holiday Trail and tree lighting ceremony, includes live music, holiday performances from community groups, gift and food giveaways, raffle prizes, and more!
