Youth Center

RIOC now operates the Roosevelt Island Youth Center as an after-school, drop-in center. The Center provides a safe and inclusive environment for island youth to gather. Please note that, due to renovation of the 506 location, the center has been moved and is temporarily located on the 2nd floor of Sportspark, 250 Main Street, until the end of November 2018.

Youth Center Summer Programming

Registration for the Youth Center’s summer drop-in program will begin Friday, May 24th. Please note that a summer registration form is required to be completed before your child can participate. New identification cards will be issued for participants of the summer program. 

Summer programming will begin on Thursday, June 27th.

Summer drop-in operating hours
 will be: 8 AM – 7 PM, with on-island activities scheduled throughout the day including: swimming, dance, art, yoga, chess, soccer & basketball clinics, tennis instruction, learn-to-ride bike instruction, photography, and much more.

School Year (Sept. 5 - June 26) Operating Schedule

Monday through Friday

  • 2:30 PM - 8:00 PM (for children in grades 2 to 12)


  • 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM Game Night (for children in grades 2 to 12) 

*The above newly expanded hours begin Saturday, May 4th.

If you would like RIOC to pick up your child from PS/IS 217 and walk them to the Youth Center on any date, a Youth Center Registration Form must be submitted to PS/IS 217 & to the Community Affairs Department.
